An independent member of parliament has revealed that independent MPs are currently in high demand in parliament as voting for the Assembly Speaker inches closer.
Rahim Dawood, who was sworn in as the MP for North Imenti said that they are being offered up to Sh. 500,000 for every vote.
“The money we are being offered is not little and we wonder where it is coming from,” he said.
He alleges that they are being offered this money by the Azimio la Umoja coalition in order to vote for the former Speaker Kenneth Marende who has bern fronted by the coalition.

Marende is due to face off with Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula who is being backed by the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
In the Senate race, Kenya Kwanza’s Amason Jeffah Kingi was elected as the Speaker of the Senate following the last minute withdrawal from the race by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
