How educated is Rachel Ruto?

Mama Rachel is the first lady of the republic of Kenya after her husband became President of Kenya.

She is admired by many Kenyans for her wifely traits in supporting her husband during campaign periods and being an embodiment of a loyal family and women leader. Furthermore, the couple serves as an inspiration to all young people who are struggling to overcome their humble backgrounds and make it to the top.

Rachel Ruto was born in Likuyani, Kakamega county on November 20th, 1968. As of 2022, she is still 53 years old. The prayerful wife grew in the hands of religious parents. While much has not been revealed about her family, her brother is Samuel Cyrus Shikuku (Sammy Triples).

Rachel Ruto attended primary school education at Likuyani Primary School in Kakamega county. She then proceeded to Butere Girls High School for her O and A levels. Afterward, she got the chance to study at Kenyatta University for a Bachelor of Arts in Education.

During her bachelor’s study period at the university, she met her husband, President William Ruto. He was a UoN student and the couple got married in 1991. Mama Rachel graduated from KU in the 1990s.

Rachel Ruto resigned from the teaching profession to concentrate more on family affairs. She started running family businesses including Venture Africa Safaris & Travel Ltd. In 2011, she returned to school at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa to pursue a master of Arts.

A humble Rachel has been at the forefront in advocating for women’s empowerment, a cause she has dutifully taken up to create more favorable opportunities for women. She is acknowledged for initiating and running women empowerment projects through her Joyful Women Organization.

On 17th January 2014, Mama Rachel was awarded the International Honorary Fellowship Award on Women’s Empowerment at the Binary University in Malaysia.

Rachel Ruto’s hobbies include reading and cooking meals for her family.

“I make tea and mboga kienyeji which William loves so much. But I believe I am the best cook of chapati in the world. I also like making a type of chicken and onion soup which my children love a lot,” she says.

“I am currently reading Beverly Angel’s Intimacy, but it is about intimacy with God, not the other type of intimacy with my husband.” She previously stated.

Rachel Ruto is a mother to 7 children; 2 sons, 4 daughters and 1 adopted daughter.
