A policewoman stationed at Kiandutu Police Station on Friday died by suicide. The policewoman who was identified as Irene Wangari Migongo shot herself dead using a steyr rifle.
The bullet went through her chest, killing her instantly. According to police reports, she died at around 9.45am.
“Besides her was the Steyr rifle which the officer was issued as she was preparing to report on today’s (Friday) patrol duties,” a police report said. The rifle was recovered with 19 rounds of ammunition.

According to her colleagues, Irene had not shown any signs of stress or depression. However, hours before she died, she left a curious message on Whatsapp Status.
“The only message she posted yesterday (Thursday) at 8:26 pm on her mobile status read, “Because tomorrow may never be mine”, accompanied by the song ‘Sweet bye bye’,” the police said.

A police officer in a nearby house, Peter Njoroge said that he heard a loud bang coming from Irene’s house. He alert the station commanding officer and they went to check what was happening, only to find Irene dead. She lay on the floor, facing upwards.
