Kenyans have now set eyes on how to make money from the newly introduced DNA home test kits that will allow people to learn about their genetic makeup and ancestry, including paternity, maternity, siblings, twins, grandparent, or aunt/uncle.

The kits are also expected to cost Sh. 600 each. Apart from the money, the kits are set to send shock waves in many relationships as couples seek to verify the paternity of their children.

The DNA home test kits give unique and individualized results that can be used at a personal level and in corporations such as banks, security firms, law firms, diplomatic missions, government missions, and government law enforcement agencies.

On Monday, January 9, 2023, an Image of the kit on a supermarket shelf went viral, drawing mixed reactions from several Kenyans who wanted to know how it works and how they could make money out of it.

Reactions

A section of Kenyans was amazed by the cost of the kit and wanted to know more about its availability.

A social media user named Elchapo remarked,” Looking to venture in a good paying business? Anza kuuza hizo PORTABLE HOME DNA TEST KIT. And thank me later.”

Another user echoed his sentiments, saying,” This is the business I’m starting next year. 20k . Investors and distributors needed..

Another Twitter user statement read,” With the DNA home test kits that are now available, I can sell them to my colleagues at work and hawk them in the villages in remote areas while teaching them how to use in a friendly manner. Biashara ni lugha, Aisee!.’’

Longo Makuli explaining why he cannot use the kit, remarked, “I cannot use it because, by the time you start asking whether a child is yours or not, you should have looked at yourself also to realize that you have not been faithful.”

Another social media user disagreed with Makuli, arguing that the kit was a necessity.

“If I am doubting whether a child is mine, I will do it even without the mother’s consent,” he vowed.
