The parents of Kitengela International School have stormed the offices of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
This is after their children posted dismal results, with the top candidate reportedly getting less than 360 marks out of the possible 500.
The parents who camped at the KNEC offices on Sunday lamented that the results did not reflect the academic abilities of their children.
“We truly believe that those do not reflect the abilities of our kids, we are 100 per cent sure those are not our results. It can’t be that a school that has been number 1 in the country for the last three years all of a sudden in two years’ time we don’t have top performers,” one of the parents who was identified as Samuel Nderitu said.
Another parent who identified as Claudia Okumu said; “To me as a parent representing the parents, I believe that this is a sincere injustice to the children of Kitengela International as indicated here and also to the children of other schools in this nation.”
Parents puzzled as kids who’ve never scored above 300 marks get 400s in KCPE
This is the second year in a row that the school based in Kitengela is protesting KCPE results. In the previous 2022 KCPE examinations, Kitengela International wrote a protest letter to KNEC demanding for a re-examination after recording poor results which it claimed did not reflect the true abilities of its candidates.
This year’s KCPE exams were released on November 23, by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu. The exam’s top performer was Michael Warutere who scored 428 marks.
