Peter Mbugua: Tycoon behind popular city nightclub with branches in every corner

Peter Mbugua: Tycoon behind popular city nightclub with branches in every corner

Quiver Lounge & Grill, now Quiver HQ along Thika Superhighway, is one of the most popular entertainment joints in Nairobi.

The club has been the talk of the town over the weekend after opening a new branch along Kangundo Road christened Quiver Eastlands.

The new establishment, which spells class, brings the number of Quiver branches to five after Quiver Kilimani, Quiver Kenol, Quiver Kitengela, and Quiver HQ- Thika Road.

The Quiver chain is allegedly owned by tycoon businessman Peter Mbugua who has for years stayed away from the limelight despite the rapid expansion of his business to various parts of the country.

The businessman reportedly stepped into the public limelight for the first time in November last year, soon after the opening of the Quiver branch in Kenol.

The joint had made headlines when a video of Catholic priests blessing the establishment went viral on social media. Addressing the concerns, Mbugua said that the priests had come to bless the then-new mall that hosts Quiver Kenol among other businesses.

“As you’ve already been told, the mall in which Quiver Lounge sits, was being dedicated to God as any business person would as he embarks on a new business challenge.”

“While Quiver Lounge is a nightspot, it also enjoyed the blessings from the priests since it’s also part of the many businesses the Murang’a mall hosts,” Mbugua noted.

He further went ahead to defend his business, noting that a chunk of Quiver’s profits were consistently channeled to the church.

“This is a business like any other. There are a lot of risks in nightclubs – people can be stabbed to death with bottles, there are knives involved, fires in the kitchens, and stampedes too,” he explained.

“We always ask God to protect us from hazards, and we also channel a lot of our profits to the Church. I don’t see any controversy in asking men of God to bless a new nightclub,” Mbugua added.
