KCSE 2023 Results: 1,216 score A, 889 from national schools

KCSE 2023 Results have been released. The results were released by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

A total of 1,216 students scored a mean grade of A. Out of these, 889 students were from national schools.

201,133 candidates managed to get the minimum C+ grade that is required for university entrance.

“This is 22.27 per cent of students attained direct entry into the university,” said CS Machogu.

A total of 2,782 girls scored A- while 4,472 boys scored A-. A total of 18,078 attained a mean grade of B+ with 10,370 males and 7,708 females.

In the B plain category, there were 36,728 candidates, while a total of 59,514 scored B- and 78,343 scored C+.

The results of some 4,109 students were however withheld over examination irregularities.

899,453 candidates sat the examinations while 3,685 candidates missed out.

“During the release of the results, Teachers Service Commission boss Dr. Nancy Macharia revealed that the KCSE 2023 exams had a total of 70,895 teachers who were contracted either as invigilators, supervisors and centre managers.

When releasing the results, CS Machogu said that Kenya has achieved gender parity at the secondary education level. 50.09 per cent of all candidates were male and 49.91 per cent were female.

In the previous results, 881,416 candidates sat KCSE 2022 examinations. Out of these, 50.3 per cent were male and 49.69 per cent were female. 14 counties had more male than female candidates.
