No SMS code: How to check 2023 KCSE results

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Monday officially released the much anticipated 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.

Unlike traditionally, when students and parents accessed KCSE results through SMS code, the 2023 results will only be accessed through an online portal.

“Individual 2023 KCSE candidates’ examination results will be accessed online through a link on the KNEC website or directly through the URL: results.knec.ac.ke,” KNEC stated.

Candidates will be required to enter their index number and the name (s) as per the registration data for the 2023 KCSE examination after which they will be prompted to submit the information.

2023 KCSE Results: 48,174 candidates score Grade E

Machogu had earlier announced that the Ministry would halt the use of SMS for candidates to access national examination results following a series of errors witnessed in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam results.

“Moving forward, when we release the KCSE examinations, we will not be able to make use of the same service provider. I am already engaging ICT we see whether we can be able to develop a website that members of the public can be able to access free of charge,” he stated.

In total, 903,260 students sat last year’s KCSE exams, an increase from 881,416 candidates who took the exams in 2022. Of the total, 1,216 students scored a mean grade of A. Some 201,133 candidates managed to get the minimum C+ grade that is required for university entrance.
