Group of Kenyans renounce their Kenyan citizenship to become US citizens

A group of Kenyans were among 50 nationalities who renounced their citizenship to become US citizens.

According to a report that appeared in the Pacific Daily News, a  total of 50 applicants became US citizens during a ceremony that was held on January 16, 2024.

“The people were originally from Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, Guyana, Federated States of Micronesia, Kenya, Philippines, and Republic of Palau,” the Pacific Daily News report by Rick Cruz.

The naturalization ceremony was held at the District Court of Guam in Hagåtña.

“The ceremony was held as part of this year’s celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. U.S. District Court Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood, in the front row, administered the oath, while Sentor Sabina Perez served as keynote speaker,” the Pacific Daily News reported.
