Sally Kimondo, a Kenyan woman residing in the UK, clinched the position of Dunstable East Councilor through an election. She emerged victorious by getting 372 votes, surpassing three other candidates.
She is a social worker, championing for Kenyans in Luton, Dunstable and nearby communities. On previous occasions, Sally Kimondo has received commendations for advocating the rights of Kenyans living in the diaspora.
Kimondo ran as a candidate for the Dunstable and Houghton Regis Labour Party. Her promise to voters was inclined towards social change.
She holds a social work degree from the University of Bedfordshire. She has a good political track record, owing to her commitment to social principles.
“I am a qualified social Senior Worker with a demonstrated history of working in the government administration industry. I have gained experience within the journey of a child and now based within a safeguarding team,” reads her LinkedIn profile.

Sally Kimondo is the founder and chair of the highly acclaimed Luton Dunstable & surrounding Kenya Community Forum. In her role as a councillor, she will serve as a representative for Kenyans and others in the area.
“Being an effective councillor requires both commitment and hard work. Councillors have to balance the needs and interests of residents, the political party they represent, and the council,” reads part of the UK government guidelines.
As a councillor, she will serve for 4 years and can be re-elected or replaced by a new candidate. A councillor may choose to resign, leading to a by-election to fill the vacancy.
Sally Kimondo is committed to addressing anti-social behaviour within the community. Other key agendas she wants to tackle include the cost of fuel, improved amenities for residents and better infrastructure through fixing potholes and lighting.
