Oscar Sudi celebrates daughter’s UK masters degree, gifts her car, new house

Faith Chemutai, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi’s first-born child, recently bagged a Master’s degree in Finance Management from the University of Kent, Canterbury in the UK.

Sudi’s eldest daughter held a colourful ceremony at their Kapseret home. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Eliud Kipchoge, Reuben Kagame, Governor Jonathan Bii, and Governor Stephen Sang, among others.

Following Chemutai’s educational milestone, Oscar Sudi chose to appreciate her hard work and success, which he attributed largely to the respect she had consistently shown him as she grew up.

While delivering the keynote speech, Sudi called her to the stage and surprised her by announcing that he had bought her a car. He also informed her that he would hand her the keys to a new apartment. This would give her a head start in life.

Sudi noted that he was a proud father, stating that Faith Chemutai graduated with a university degree before promptly pursuing a master’s degree in London.

“When she told me she wanted to go to London to study and I agreed with her, I promised to do my part to pay her fees, but one thing I wanted from her was respect. She did her degree and went on to do her Master’s immediately,” he said.

He was delighted by the transparency that Chemutai maintained while in London. He shared that she had landed a job in London.

“I told her I have a gift for her, as my firstborn if she did what I wanted. You have worked hard. You have your degree and a job. I have your gift, as I told you. I will give you the key to your house.”

Sudi advised his other children to emulate the footsteps of his first-born daughter.

“You are welcome and I wanted to tell these children to put in the effort. Listen and obey your parents, this world is full of many things,” Sudi stated.

Sudi gave Chemutai the go-ahead now to get a boyfriend and start a serious relationship, having previously asked her to refrain from the same before completing her education. He asked eligible Kenyan bachelors to make sure she doesn’t find a suitor from London.

“I told her to make sure you study and if you meet a boyfriend, don’t let him con you. She has kept her word and I am very happy…so when you come next time and tell me you have a boyfriend, I wouldn’t have a problem with that. I will support you 100%.”
