Geoffrey Ouma is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sevenett LLC, a technology training company based in Washington State, USA.
Ouma’s journey to founding the firm which has regional offices in Nairobi is a testament to hope and determination.
Recalling his childhood days, Ouma revealed he was brought up in abject poverty in his rural home in Homa Bay County. He however worked hard in school determined that one day he would change the situation back home.
Tragedy however hit when he lost both of his parents leaving him and his three siblings orphaned.
The four would then embark on a fresh start relying on their relatives for resources, which with time became unavailable.
Forced by the hardships, Ouma dropped out of school and engaged in fishing to finance his education and cater to his family’s needs.

“It was a sad moment when I dropped out of school in class 6 because my relatives couldn’t afford the required money to allow me to continue with my education,” he says.
“I decided to look for menial jobs where I could find a living to sustain ourselves. Unfortunately, I was employed at a fishing point where I used to earn between Ksh80 and Ksh100 in a day,” added Ouma.
His determination caught the attention of his grandmother who supported his education until he successfully completed his computer programming course at the Technical University of Kenya.
His quest for knowledge further led him to pursuing a degree in Business Information Technology and later a Ph.D. program in Information Systems in 2015.
In 2021 Ouma ventured into the field of data analytics, founding his technology company Sevenett LLC which offers coding classes for kids and teens, preparing them for future tech career opportunities.
“The training is interactive, engaging, and practical, with a keen focus on real-world applications.” He says.
Among the programs offered by the firm are intensive five-month Data Analysis Boot Camps and advanced 3-month Data Science courses, conducted through expert-led virtual classroom sessions facilitated by Video Conferencing Technology.
