President William Ruto’s Weston Hotel has been getting the majority of the government’s hospitality tenders since Ruto became the president in September 2022.
This was revealed by a recent report on disclosures from the Public Procurement Information Portal.
The report shows that Ruto’s Weston Hotel has been linked with procurement disclosures of some 37 tenders for the supply of various government corporations, agencies, and counties. The hotel has reportedly offered services amounting to some Sh. 57.9 million.
In contrast, before Ruto became the president in September 2022, Weston Hotel had only received tenders worth just Sh. 1.011 million.
According to the report in the weekend paper, the ICT Authority paid Ruto’s Weston Hotel some Sh. 43.2 million for the provision of catering services during the month-long Connected Africa Summit. This summit was held in Nairobi between April 12 and May 13, 2024 and was officially opened by Ruto.
