Multi-billion businesses you didn’t know are owned by Ruto and Rachel

There are a couple of businesses that Kenyans know are owned by President William Ruto. One of these is the Weston Hotel. There are also others that not too many people know are owned by Dr. Ruto.

One of the businesses owned by Ruto is Matiny Limited. This business was incorporated in 1966. It has mostly dealt with real estate and hospitality. According to a report that appeared in the Daily Nation, DP Ruto’s wife Rachel and his daughter Charlene Chelagat are the current shareholders.

Rachel owns six shares in the company. Charlene owns one share. Rachel also doubles up as the company secretary. Between 2015 and 2018, Matiny Limited had leased 170 apartments to the National Police Service.

Dr. Ruto also owns the Dolphine Hotel in Mombasa. he owns this business through the Weston Hotel. The construction of this hotel is estimated to be around Sh. 600 million.

Ruto is also a minority shareholder at Amaco where he holds some 50,000 shares. He owns the shares through his Yegen Farms Limited. Yegen rears poultry at his home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County.

Dr. Ruto also owns also the Koilel Farm Limited, which operates from their 430-acre Sugoi land. Koilel Farm sells maize to the National Cereals and Produce Board.
