National Police Service recruitments to be conducted online

National Police Service recruitments to be conducted online

The National Police Service recruitments will now be conducted online. This is after the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) moved to migrate recruitment exercises from stadia to digital platforms.

According to NPSC chief executive officer Peter Leley, aspiring candidates will now be required to submit their applications online. Those who pass the first stage of vetting successfully will be listed and notified, upon which they will attend physical examinations.

These physical assessments, which might include running, will be the only stage in the recruitment that aspiring candidates will be required to take part in at designated fields or stadia.

“The entire process, from submission to shortlisting, will now be conducted online. This will not only enhance transparency but will also improve efficiency,” said Leley. He added that the new system will be unveiled for use once it is approved by the National Assembly.

At the same time, physical assessments will not involve medical checkups as these will conducted at a later stage, the NPSC stated.

“When we go to the field, we will only be dealing with those who have already been shortlisted. We have removed dark areas such as medical examinations and moved them to a later stage to streamline the process,” he said.

The new system that has already completed its testing phase is designed to eliminate human interaction, seal corruption loopholes, and ensure efficiency by automating key processes in the recruitment process.

The NPSC is one of the independent commissions established under Chapter Fifteen of the Constitution 2010. The commission took over, among other functions, the human resource management function of the police service, that previously was being handled by the Public Service Commission.

The commission, which began operations on October 5, 2012, is responsible for human resource management within the National Police Service, comprising the Kenya Police Service, the Administration Police, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
