How educated is Kipchumba Murkomen? See his education level, career, and wealth

Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

Murkomen was appointed to his current role on December 19, 2024, by President William Samoei Ruto. Prior to his appointment to the Cabinet, Murkomen served as Senator for Elgeyo Marakwet.

Born in 1979, Murkomen began his early education at Chawis Primary School in Embobut Forest, Marakwet East, where he sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam in 1993.

He holds a Master of Laws from the American University Washington College of Law and the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

He also worked as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi and Moi University, and has consulted and researched widely on topical issues of global interest, among them the Global Organization in Human Rights and Environmental Conservation.

The CS has also participated in exchange programs on African Leadership, Public Administration, and Globalization held at the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Makerere University (Uganda), the University of Nairobi (Kenya) and the University of California Los Angeles (USA).

Political Career

His political career began in 2013 when he was elected as Senator for Elgeyo-Marakwet County on a United Republican Party (URP) ticket.

He vied for the same seat during the 2017 elections on a Jubilee party ticket and was re-elected to a second term.

In the 9 August 2022 elections, Murkomen was re-elected for a third consecutive term on a UDA party ticket.

He, however, resigned to take the position of Cabinet Secretary following his appointment as Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Roads and Transport on 27 September 2022.

Murkomen Net worth

The CS publicly revealed he is worth Sh550 million. Speaking before the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, Murkomen claimed that his whole worth came from his enterprises and real estate properties in Nairobi, Eldoret, Trans Nzoia and Narok.
