The M-Pesa Foundation Academy has, over the years, transformed the lives of thousands of Kenyan students through its innovative world class education.
Founded in 2016 by telecommunication giant Safaricom, the M-Pesa Foundation Academy is a state-of-the-art, co-educational, and residential High School that serves talented but economically disadvantaged students with demonstrated leadership potential.
The school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, with a focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation.
Over 12,000 learners have benefitted from the institution’s scholarships, some of whom have excelled in various fields.
M-Pesa Foundation Academy Admission
The M-Pesa Foundation Academy admits students from all the Kenya’s 47 counties. Every admission cycle targets learners sitting their National examinations.
An application form is provided every year the application process is opened. The form can be collected from any Safaricom retail shop or online on the M-Pesa Foundation Academy website.
After filling the form, applicants are required to drop them in nearby Safaricom retail shop or email to; [email protected].

To qualify for admission, applicants must demonstrate various qualities and skills, including academic excellence, leadership and entrepreneurship potential, and critical thinking.
Applicants must also be in need of financial support and have a sense of responsibility to qualify for admission.
Successful applicants join the Academy in January of the subsequent year a four-year boarding programme to study the competency-based curriculum (CBC).
Applicants must be at least 13 and not more than 15 years of age at the time they are expected to join the Academy. Refugee students who are duly registered also qualify for admission.
Documents required for a successful application include:
- Birth Certificate.
- Parent/Guardian ID.
- Parent Death Certificate, where applicable.
- Academic transcripts/ reports for grade 7 and 8 (if reports for grade 9 are available, also submit them.)
- Evidence of leadership and Co-curricular activity certificates.
- Pay slip of Parent/Guardian if employed.
- Any other document deemed relevant.
Applicants are advised to write their first and last name in capital letters at the top of each page as it appears on their Birth Certificate in case the pages detach.
Admission into the M-PESA Foundation Academy is based on an independent application process separate from the national senior Secondary application and selection process.
