The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has announced the nationwide recruitment of 10,000 police officers.
In a notice published on Friday, September 19, NPSC invited interested Kenyans to apply to join the national security team.
According to the notice, recruitment will run from Friday, October 3, to October 9 across all the 47 counties.
“Pursuant to the Constitution of Kenya Articles 246(3), 248(4), 243, 238(d), 10, sections 10, 11 and 12 of the National Police Service Commission Act Cap 85 and the National Police Service Act Cap 84, the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) seeks to recruit suitably qualified persons to be trained as Police Constables,” reads part of the notice.
The commission added that the recruitment is free, warning that anyone involved in corrupt dealings shall be liable to a fine of up to Sh200,000 or up to two years imprisonment or both.
“The public is urged to report any incidences of recruitment malpractices to the nearest Police Station or call 0709090000, 999, 911,112 or 0800722203,” NPSC directed.
The recruitment process will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. across the country.
Requirements
Applicants shall be required to meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a citizen of Kenya
- Hold a Kenya National Identity Card
- Age: 18–28 years
- Minimum grade in KCSE: D+ (with a minimum of D+ in English or Kiswahili)
- Be physically and medically fit
- Minimum height: Male – 5ft 8in., Female – 5ft 3in
- Have no criminal record or pending criminal charges.
- Female candidates must NOT be pregnant at recruitment and during the ENTIRE training period.
- National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet minimum entry requirements are encouraged to apply.

Interested and qualified applicants are required to download and fill the prescribed application form available on any of the following websites:

- www.mygov.go.ke
Applicants may also fill and download the application using the following link: https://prs.npsc.go.ke, with those in need of hard copy application forms directed to collect them from the nearest Huduma Centres.
According to NPSC, Applicants must present themselves at the designated recruitment centres within the respective constituencies with original and copies of the following documents:
- Academic certificates and testimonials
- Kenyan National Identity Card
- Birth Certificate
- NYS discharge certificate, where applicable, with a minimum rating of ‘GOOD’ in conduct.
