From bargain-brand stores to luxury boutiques, I’ve picked the top 5 best shopping malls in Nairobi that will surely make your jaws drop in amusement, your wallets cry in emptiness and your credit cards scream in pain. I’ve left out the enormous Two Rivers Mall because it just opened recently and we aren’t so sure how good it will be, though it holds much promise.
1.The Hub – Karen
The Hub is the biggest shopping mall in the area, and it is the shopping destination of rich kids. It is popular for its luxury retail shops and home stores. A children’s play area also serves as one of the highlights of this mall. Think of all the fine, elegant-looking women going through every rack in the shop, swiping their credit cards with ease, and bringing shopping bags from every shop. This Karen hot spot is popular for its decadent appeal that lures crazy shoppers. Who can say no to the humongous furniture stores that will haunt you in your dreams whenever you see their impressive furniture and eye popping house wares. You cannot help but dream you can bring them to your own home.
2. Junction Mall
With countless shops to choose from, you will never go home empty handed with the Junction Mall. Its wide range of stores can make your toddler or your grandmother happy. It is jam-packed with all the mall staples like Java and Artcafe, or you can enjoy the latest movies at cheap prices at Century Cinemax. You can also enjoy some of the best boutiques where you can get some of the best finds in town.
3. Garden City Mall
If you’re thinking about a trip through Thika Super Highway be sure to add a stop at marvelous garden City Mall. Having toppled Thika Road Mall as one of the world’s best shopping malls on the highway, you will not be disappointed with all there is to do and see here. it keeps re-inventing itself through redecoration, adding high-quality services and attracting hot new retailers.
4. Westgate Mall
Westgate used to be the best mall in Kenya before the unfortunate terrorist attack of 2013.it closed fro two years but luckily, it came back stronger than ever. The new Westgate is a bit smaller than the original though it looks like they are trying to expand it.
With highly fashionable and stylish neighborhoods and citizens living in Westlands, a mall should have everything that it takes to shine in this area. Westgate has it all. There are numerous luxe shops and if you want to splurge on fancy dining, you can choose from their wide range of exquisite restaurants.
5. Galleria Mall
Despite the fact that it’s really peaceful and serene, what’s truly special about Galleria Mall is that it always plays hosts to classy events. A sense of luxury is infused in every aspect of the shopping experience in this mall. As the mall bug continues to spread its money making tentacles into the far corners of Nairobi that not long ago didn’t even have grocery stores, some investment groups are now building shopping facilities so big that they can’t even find enough vendors to fill them. Luckily Galleria is not one of those. Its size is just perfect.
