In 2011, Co-op Bank launched agency banking dubbed Co-op Kwa Jirani to enable Kenyans access banking services at their neighbourhoods.
“Our agency banking is designed to give majority of Kenyans who reside in remote and unbanked areas access to banking services,” said the bank during the launch of the launch.
This was in line with the Co-op Bank’s diversification and innovation model that has always been structured around helping people avail banking services to those close to them. “This is the reason why we have always helped Saccos reach their members with FOSA’s and Bank product,” says the bank.
Since then, millions of Kenyans have evaded the hustle of going to the traditional banking hall to carry out banking services. This is because a virtually all services that are provided at the bank are also readily available at the Co-op Kwa Jirani agencies.
Additionally, while the traditional bank operates within a specified time table, the Co-op Kwa Jirani is nearly always open including on holidays and weekends.
