Moi Health: Former President Daniel arap Moi is admitted at the Nairobi Hospital in a critical condition.
According to reports, Moi is currently admitted at the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU). He was rushed to the hospital on Monday for the second time in two weeks.
Although his family claim he is undergoing routine check up, reports from the hospital indicate that his health has gotten worse. According to a report in the Star Newspaper, Moi is on life support after complaining over breathing difficulties.
“However, a family source who did not want to be identified says that Mr Moi was rushed to the hospital on Saturday after developing breathing complications. The source said he underwent a procedure and was much better on Sunday, having been removed from a life support machine,” says a second report by the Daily Nation.
But his press secretary is downplaying the seriousness of the Moi health condition. He is reported as follows: Press Secretary, Lee Njiru, allayed fears about his health saying, “It is true [that] Mzee Moi went to Nairobi Hospital today (Monday) but it [was for] a routine medical check-up.” He added: “It is prudent and advisable that everybody should go for medical check-up, so Mzee Moi went for a medical check up.” Mr Njiru said Mr Moi’s physician, Dr David Silverstein will determine how long he will stay at the hospital. “He is expected to go back home but that will be at the discretion of his personal physician; he will make the final decision.”
The ex president has been on a streak of ill health with previous reports saying that the old man suffered a memory loss months ago.
