The county has several tourist attractions contributing to its rise as a sought-after destination. They include Sagana Fisheries, Mt. Kenya National Park, Rapids Camp, Ndaraca ya Ngai and the Mwea Irrigation Scheme.

As a marketed tourist destination, Kirinyaga has built some of the best lodges in the country. Abai Lodges & Spa is one of the top hotels in the area.

Dr. (Eng) Kibicho Karanja, the former Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, owns it. The Lodge embodies style, luxury and sophistication for the sorts you would expect to find at a world-class hotel.

It is conveniently situated 7 kilometres away from Sagana town. Furthermore, the place is accessible for domestic and international travellers seeking a luxurious and tranquil retreat, just 3 hours from the JKIA.

On arrival at Abai Lodge, guests are greeted by a grand entrance featuring a tall, hydraulic-powered gate. Hefty security checks are set in place to protect Kibicho’s esteemed establishment.

Proceeding into the facility, guests are welcomed by the sight of a water fountain just outside the reception area. Inside the reception area is a magnificent golden three-chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The walls are adorned with soft pink hues.

Abai Lodge takes pride in its restaurant, which offers a variety of meals to cater for every palate. Visitors can choose to enjoy their meals while savouring a drink of their choice from a nearby bar.

Aside from these, the place is complemented by other amenities that seek to enhance the guest experience. It features a swimming pool, spa, sauna, gym and spacious private rooms.

The Lodge has a total of 64 rooms, categorized into three: Executive Suites, Deluxe rooms and Standard rooms. The cost and amenities in each of these rooms vary.
