The controversial tenure of National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK) CEO Sumayya Hassan-Athmani has ended. In her position, an acting CEO has been appointed.
According to Nock, Ms. Hassan-Athmani, whose second three-year term was due to end in April 2017, resigned from the company from the beginning of this month.
“Ms Hassan-Athmani has left the corporation at her request effective July 1, the Nock board of directors has appointed MaryJane Mwangi as the acting CEO,” the oil marketer said in a statement. The new acting CEO was the corporation’s general manager in charge of downstream operations.
Ms. Sumayya Hassan-Athmani was in early February suspended from office but reinstated a few days later pending conclusion of investigations occasioned by a reported Sh270 million loss for the six months to December.
