Home buyers have bought a third of affordable houses in Nakuru that are being set up by the national government. This comes nearly two years ahead of completion.
“We acknowledge the positive response from the market on the project which is still in progress. It is encouraging that 32 per cent of the units have already been purchased,” said Royal Group Industries Director Yusuf Hassanali.
The 605 housing units are expected to be completed in December 2023. The project will see the construction of 605 units where 45 will be one-bedrooms, 180 two-bedroom and 380 units three-bedroom.
In the affordable house in Nakuru project agreement, the private investor provided funding while the government provided a 7.5-acre piece of land formerly occupied by municipal houses to make the new units affordable. “Our ultimate goal is to incorporate a high level of quality into these housing projects to provide decent housing to our clients at affordable rates,” said Hassanali.
The Bondeni, Nakuru AHP project is the second project that the Civil Servants Housing Scheme is undertaking as part of its contribution to the affordable housing programme.
