Viral lady who bragged online about landing luxury UK job gets fired

While sharing good news with family and friends can be thrilling, it may not be wise to do so at times. It’s always best to be cautious when sharing personal information, especially on social media.

This is a lesson that a Nigerian lady living in the UK, Akorede, has come to learn the hard way after losing her job. The lady got a top job at British luxury department store Harrods.

She made a video bragging about the news on social media to her fans and followers. Days later, the lady made another video narrating how she got fired within days after induction while she had not even checked in for the first day.

Co-Op post

In the first video, Akorede described how working at Harrods was a great achievement and how it would elevate her social status. She told netizens that she was now dealing with ‘the richest of the richest’

“I work in luxury. If anyone can tell me -ish, no one, no one! Nobody. Look at me. Do you know where I work? I work at Harrods. You could actually never,” she said in the video.

It did not take long before Akorede received her sack letter a few days afterwards. She was left questioning who sent her bosses at Harrod’s the video that got her fired.

In the second video, the lady admitted to never having started work at Harrods as she had only gone for an induction session. This was before she even began her first work shift.

“I don’t blame Harrods for their decision. If I was the CEO, I probably would have fired me too.”

I’ve been banned from Canada for using Nairobi agent, fake bank statement

Akorede said that she made the video whilst joking, which did not sit well with social media users. She noted that she had taken home some valuable lessons from the ordeal.

“Rule number one, don’t ever tell good news to the internet or people. Keep it to yourself…Another lesson I learned; Be humble. Kendrick Lamar did not lie,” she said.

Sections of social media users were harsh with the Nigerian lady in both of her videos. They believe that the boasting was utterly uncalled for. On the other hand, Akorede maintained that she is a staunch believer in ‘everything happens for a reason’.

Here are some of the comments from the video:
