Kenyan musician and entrepreneur, Esther Akoth Kokeyo, alias Akothee, has successfully earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (Human Resource Management) from Mount Kenya University.
Akothee has taken 14 years to complete her 4-year degree, persisting that she tenaciously clung to her academic journey as it was her mother’s greatest desire to witness her in a graduation gown.
The self-declared President of Single Mothers previously shared with her fans that her ambitions were fueled by her mother’s wishes. Her graduation marks a special day for both her and her fan base.
During an Instagram livestream, Akothee couldn’t hold back her tears of joy while celebrating the milestone.
She recalled instances where friends and people she’d supported had spoken negatively behind her back. Akothee acknowledged that she had overlooked caring for herself in the process.
“14 years is that short. The only thing is that I never diverted from my belief. When someone or people you have supported, helped and you have given everything come and tell you, ‘you know what, I am better than you’,” she said.
She thanked her estranged husband Omosh for his support, stating that he had helped her focus on her studies.

“Having met my ex-husband helped me finalise my degree. With that, I gave him applause because when we settled in the village, I was very calm and I could embark on my studies.”
“Babe I went into a classroom without a mwakenya and everything was flowing because my emotions were arrested. I was okay and I was happy,” she added.
On her Instagram story, Akothee shared a snippet of the graduation booklet, revealing that she achieved a Second Class upper. Kenyans lauded her for the achievement and wished her the best in her career and business endeavours.
