A poor boy from Turkana County who had lost hope of going to college is now full of smiles. The boy called Starlone is now studying at Amherst College in the United States.
Amherst College is the institution that former President Uhuru Kenyatta attended. The boy’s good news were revealed by towering Kenyan Engineer Michelle Boit who had sponsored Starlone in high school. Ms Boit had visited Starlone at the Amherst College.
“Today I am celebrating Starlone in so many levels. It was a blessing visiting him this weekend at Amherst College where he received a full scholarship at the college located in Amherst, Massachusetts USA,” said Ms Boit.
She went on to reveal how Starlone had beat the odds to get the scholarship after what had initially looked like a very bleak future.
“I met Starlone in Turkana while I was working at Tullow Oil and the mother was distress because she could not afford to pay school fees for the son whom was called to join Kabsabet Boys High School,” narrated Ms Boit.
“I reviewed Starlone’s documents and decided to pay his full high school education. To cut a long story short, Starlone is now attending the same school as our former President H.E Uhuru Kenyatta attended. God is great.”

Ms Boit went on to encourage Starlone to keep working hard as she celebrated his 20th birthday.
“I am overwhelmed with joy and I want to thank each and everyone who was involved in this process. Starlone, God has great plans for you and you are destined for greatness. I am so proud of you.”
