In a historic shift, long-distance transit company ENA Coach announced the hiring of their first female driver in a predominantly male-dominated role.
The new driver Beatrice, will be piloting a 14-seater matatu that will be covering approximately 6-hour trips of up to 300km by plying the Nairobi-Kisii route.
ENA Coach announced that they selected the lady based on her exceptional driving skills and years of experience behind the wheel.
Additionally, she will serve as the face of the company’s dedication to promoting equal gender representation and an inspiration to all women.
“Beatrice joins our team with exceptional skills and a passion for driving that inspires us all. Her dedication and expertise are a testament to our commitment to diversity and excellence in our exemplary services,” the company wrote on their social pages.
As ENA Coach continues to strive for progress in diversity, they have appointed another female driver, Alice Rakayana, to join Beatrice as the co-driver.
“Let’s all extend a warm welcome and show our support as she hits the road, breaking new ground and leading the way for future generations,” the company urged supporters before her maiden voyage.
