Best Kenyan universities with quality education revealed in latest ranking

A recent survey by Uniranks ranked nine Kenyan universities among the top 100 in Africa. The ranking was based on various performance indicators, including research output, knowledge transfer, international outlook, and teaching quality among others.

According to the survey, the University of Nairobi ranked top in Kenya clinging to position 6 in the continent followed by Kenyatta University (28), and Strathmore University (42).

UoN: The Only Kenyan University Named in the World’s Top Universities

Continentally, South Africa’s University of Cape Town clinched the top position, followed by compatriots from the same country; the University of Witwatersrand, the University of Pretoria, and Stellenbosch University.

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has over the years maintained the top position in the country giving its graduates a distinct advantage in the job market.

According to a study on the State of Graduate Employability in Kenya by CPS International, UoN is the top university with the most employable graduates, with an employability index of 38.6 percent.

It is followed by Kenyatta University (30 percent), Moi University (25.1 percent), Jomo Kenyatta University (19.8 percent), and Egerton (18.3 percent).

Others are Maseno University (18.1 percent), Mount Kenya University (11 percent), Technical University of Kenya (10.2 percent), Masinde Muliro University (6.9 percent), and United States International University (USIU) (6.2 percent) to close the top 10 list.

Globally, the University of Nairobi is ranked at position 924.
