Jumia, Kenya’s leading e-commerce platform, today launched its much-anticipated Black Friday campaign, offering shoppers nationwide access to over 10 million products at discounts of up to 50%. Running from November 1 to November 30, 2024, the month-long event features deals across electronics, fashion, home appliances, and lifestyle products. Key sponsors for this year’s Black Friday campaign are Garnier, Xiaomi, Tecno, Jameson and Jambo Jet. Special giveaways include a Toyota Auris sponsored by NIVEA, alongside daily prizes worth Ksh 1,000,000 from L’Oréal.

Jumia’s Black Friday has become one of the most awaited shopping events in Kenya, with consumers anticipating the chance for big discounts. With over 240 active pick-up stations nationwide, including 60 newly added as part of Jumia’s 2024 expansion plan, the e-commerce giant is focused on improving customer experience and reaching more regions. This expansion highlights Jumia’s commitment to rural areas, with more orders now coming from as far as Kericho, Kwale, Garissa, Lodwar, and Lamu.

“We are excited to bring unmatched deals to our Kenyan customers and deepen our commitment to driving e-commerce growth in this market,” said Vinod Goel, Regional CEO – East Africa, Jumia. “With 300 pick-up stations and an expanded logistics network, we are ensuring that even more Kenyans can benefit from the convenience and savings of online shopping.”

The Black Friday campaign also supports local businesses by providing them with a platform to reach more customers, boosting sales, and fostering entrepreneurship. This is part of Jumia’s broader commitment to creating jobs and driving economic growth through e-commerce.

Since introducing Black Friday to Kenya in 2014, Jumia has redefined eCommerce in Africa. The event makes online shopping accessible to a broad demographic and promotes digital inclusivity both locally and internationally through Jumia.

Jumia’s Black Friday has done more than provide savings; it has driven e-commerce penetration across Kenya, educating consumers on the benefits of online shopping and bolstering trust in digital platforms. As it celebrates a decade, the event continues to evolve, incorporating innovations like improved logistics, diverse payment methods, and enhanced customer service. This enduring commitment to democratizing e-commerce highlights Jumia’s pivotal role in Kenya’s retail landscape, cementing Black Friday as a crucial driver in Africa’s expanding digital economy.
