Decorated career of Wells Fargo manager murdered in cold blood

Willis Ayieko, the Human Resource Manager at Wells Fargo had a rich career before meeting his untimely death that left the whole country in shock.

A look into his  career profile shows that he had worked with various organizations before assuming his role at Wells Fargo in 2015.

His career odyssey started way back in 1994 when he joined Kenyatta University for his Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in English and graduated in 1998.

He further advanced his education earning  a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resource Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) between 2010 and 2011.

Ayieko started his career as a graduate teacher with the Teachers Service Commission for six months and served as an Education Officer with the National Museums of Kenya from July 199 to April 1999.

His Human Resource journey started at the Kenya Airways in July 2000 working as a Management Trainee at Kenya Airways Group until November 2001.

His expertise saw him rise steadily through the ranks, becoming the Duty Manager for Ramp Services, a position he held for three years and two months.

He then rose to the position of Learning and Development Coordinator, serving for one year and one month.

Ayieko also worked as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Tradewinds Aviation Services from July 2011 to December 2012.

Additionally, he operated as an HR and Quality Assurance Consultant between March 2010 and June 2011, where he shaped corporate HR policies promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

He is credited for resolving industrial disputes between employees and unions and management within six months, achieving a 100 percent reduction in labour disputes per month.

From January 2012 to November 2015, Ayieko served as the Group Head of HR at GardaWorld, where he focused on optimizing organizational performance and increasing employee engagement.

He later joined Wells Fargo in December 2015 serving as the Group HR Director, a position he held till his death.

Throughout his tenure at Wells Fargo, he was accountable for developing a comprehensive HR strategy and policies that align with the organisation’s regional goals and objectives.

Ayieko was last seen on Friday October 18, after attending a funeral in Gem, before setting out for his home in Kakamega, where he was scheduled to attend a family function the following day.

However, when he failed to arrive, his family raised the alarm, fearing he had been attacked on the journey.

His lifeless body which was handcuffed was later found on October 23 near a stream in Nyamninia sub-location within Gem Yala, Siaya County.

His vehicle, a Ford Ranger double-cabin pickup, was found abandoned at a fuel station in Sabatia, Vihiga County, miles from where his body was located.

CCTV cameras captured two men abandoning the vehicle near the petrol station in Sabatia. An autopsy on Ayieko’s body revealed that he died due to injuries on his head caused by blunt force trauma.

Three suspects linked to the murder have so far been arrested,  with detectives searching for more suspects.
