DCI now goes after cops in Caroline Kangogo’s suicide probe

Caroline Kangogo Suicide Probe: the Directorate of Criminal Investigations is now going after police officers it blames for risking the investigations into the two murderers that were committed by Caroline Kangogo.

The DCI is also probing how police officers leaked photos of Kangogo after she committed suicide. In a circular that was date July 19, the DCI said that any police officer who will be found to have compromised the investigation will be fired.

“We have recently received information that police officers are sharing sensitive information that compromises investigations through social media platforms like Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter. Example is the late Police Corporal (W) Caroline Kangogo… thus jeopardising the case and putting the DCI in disrepute in the eyes of the public,” the DCI said.

The DCI further informed all Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officers (SCCIOs) that all murder case investigations are under their jurisdiction and form their core roles in the service. Subsequently, all SCCIOs will be held solely responsible for any investigation irregularities. “Officers are hereby warned to maintain professionalism and ethics at all times and desist from such acts. This message should be cascaded to the lowest officer under your command,” the DCI ordered Regional Criminal Investigations Officers (RCIOs), and all DCI directors referencing the Caroline Kangogo suicide probe.
