The Amazing Race is an America reality show which featured 28 seasons which concluded on May 13Â this year. Its first season premiered on March 8 2001 and concluded on April 8 2001.
Interestingly, following the success of its 28th season, this show was renewed for at least one more season in 2016–17. The 29th season is scheduled to premiere mid-season during the 2016–17 television season. In the reality show, eleven teams of two race around the world.
The race is generally split into twelve legs, with each leg requiring teams to deduce clues, navigate themselves in foreign areas, interact with locals, perform physical and mental challenges, and vie for airplane, boat, taxi, and other public transportation options on a limited budget provided by the show.
Teams are progressively eliminated at the end of most legs, while the first team to arrive at the end of the final leg wins the grand prize of Ksh. 101 million.
This is the show that is running on StarTimes Kenya, with its 15th and 16th seasons currently showing on Thursdays and Fridays.
The show, which was created by Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster, runs 18:00 East African time on StarTimes Channel 054 for DTT and Channel 129 for DTH.
