Cessation of Movement in Eastleigh: The government has announced the cessation of movement into and out of Eastleigh and Mombasa’s Old Town. This follows a spike in cases of coronavirus in the two areas.
“There will be no movement into and out of the areas effective Wednesday at 7pm for 15 days,” Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said on Wednesday.
“You cannot leave the area to go to another area. This will take place for 15 days,” he said. He added that public transportation will also not be allowed to go to those areas. The CS also ordered that eateries in the areas remain closed during the period.

Kenya has recorded 47 new coronavirus cases bringing the number to 581 people.
In the cases that were announced, a total of 32 people who tested positive were from Mombasa, and 11 from Nairobi. 18 cases were from the Old Town area. Two cases were recorded in Busia, Kiambu had one and Kwale one.
The total number of deaths worldwide was 258,962 and that of recoveries at 1,250,449. The number of active cases stood at 2,237,034, with two per cent or 49,282 of them being critical and the rest mild. Worldometer’s count showed that the number of closed cases was 1,509,411, with 83 per cent or 1,250,449 being the number of recoveries or those discharged. Cessation of Movement in Eastleigh.
