Che’s Bay Resort: Multi-million resort owned by CS Ababu Namwamba

Located on the shores of Lake Victoria, Che’s Bay Resort offers a breathtaking view of the largest freshwater lake in Africa and the second-largest in the world.

Nestled between Singwe and Mwita hills, right at the border of Kenya and Uganda, the resort is a perfect destination for those seeking to unplug from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Owned by Ababu Namwamba, the current Sports Cabinet Secretary in Kenya, Che’s Bay Resort is a luxurious destination that attracts both foreign tourists and middle-class Kenyans looking to unwind and relax.

The resort boasts of mouth-watering traditional and international cuisines, exquisite drinks, and some of the tastiest fish and other seafood prepared by highly qualified chefs.

Che’s Bay Resort is divided into two segments, namely the accommodation and hotel/lounge segments. The accommodation segment is where visitors can book a modern house or tented accommodation located next to the shores of Lake Victoria.

The rates vary depending on the package selected, with singles bed and breakfast going for Sh. 4,900 per night, singles half-board for sh. 6,400 per night, and singles full-board for Sh.7,900 per night among others.

The hotel and lounge segment, on the other hand, is where meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are served, and visitors can order their favorite drinks as they watch football matches or dance to live music performed by guest artists. The rates for meals are separate from the accommodation packages and vary depending on the order.

Besides relaxing in the luxurious rooms and enjoying sumptuous meals, visitors can engage in various activities while at the resort. Some of the activities available include taking a boat ride to Sigulu Island, Sumba Island, and Sango Delta, where they can have a good view of River Nzoia emptying its water into Lake Victoria.

Visitors can also kayak in the lake, jet ski, play lakeside volleyball, swim, or enjoy bouncing castles.

The resort is also the home of the annual Isambo International Beach Festival held every December on the shores of Lake Victoria.

The festival, which celebrates culture fusion, people-to-people diplomacy, and the blue economy, showcases the Lake basin as a magnet for sports, culture, and tourism. Started in December 2014, the festival attracts a large population drawn from both local Kenyans and foreigners and is currently in its seventh season.

The success of Che’s Bay Resort can be attributed to Namwamba. A former Member of Parliament and Cabinet Secretary, Namwamba has always been a man of the people, and the resort reflects his passion for excellence and providing quality services.

His investment in the resort has not only created job opportunities for locals but also helped boost tourism in the region.

Che’s Bay Resort has gained a reputation as one of the most luxurious and sought-after destinations in Western and Nyanza regions of Kenya.

The resort offers a perfect getaway for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy nature’s tranquility, away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery, fresh breeze, and cool waters of Lake Victoria while indulging in sumptuous meals and engaging in various activities
