Three years ago, desperation led Claudia Jematia to go begging on the streets for a job. She had searched for a job for a long time in vain. This was despite her high and prestigious qualifications.
That morning, when she stood in the streets in Nairobi holding a placard begging for jobs, many mocked her, while a few were astonished by her academic qualifications.
Her placard indicated that she was a qualified IT, data and cyber security expert and a masters degree holder. She was the proud holder of Master of Science in Advanced Security and Digital forensic, Master of Science cyber security and a Bachelor of Science degree in IT from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Her bold attempt to look for a job paid off. Today, Claudia Jematia works at Facebook.
“Successful first day as a Global IT Security Engineer for Africa at Facebook. I’m very grateful to have finally found a new home here. I look forward to working with so many brilliant people to make Facebook better, especially in these times. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen,” she posted in April 2021 after her first day at work.
