As the 2026 academic year begins and learners return to school, while others join, parents and guardians are preparing to meet a range of essential back-to-school needs, including uniforms, stationery, personal items, and school fees.
Gone are the days when the process felt daunting, as financial institutions have stepped out with convenient solutions to ease the burden experienced by parents when preparing learners to resume their studies.
The Co-operative Bank of Kenya is leading this transformation and has rolled out a suite of practical financial solutions aimed at easing the annual back-to-school rush for parents and guardians.
By integrating affordable credit, digital payments and merchant partnerships, the lender is streamlining how families prepare for the academic year, reducing both cost pressures and time spent navigating multiple service providers.
At the centre of the transformation is digital convenience. Co-op Bank’s mobile and internet banking platforms allow parents to pay school fees, settle balances with suppliers and track spending in real time, reducing the need for cash transactions or long queues at banking halls
Below are some of the payment options customers can use to shop for various back-to-school needs.
M-Pesa Paybill 400200
The first step is through the Co-op Bank’s mobile platforms. Sending money from M-Pesa to a retailer’s Co-operative Bank account through paybill number 400222 is free.
Additionally, once you have sent money, it will immediately reflect on the merchant’s account.
MCo-op Cash Mobile app
If you have a smartphone, you may opt to download the MCo-op Cash mobile app from your phone’s Google Play Store or App Store.
The mobile app will allow you to access your Co-operative Bank account for free, and will enable you to easily transfer funds for free.
By using the app, you will not have to physically withdraw money or write a banker’s cheque.
One can either dial *667# or download the MCo-op Cash App to access the service.
Co-op Kwa Jirani
In the same breathe, instead of walking into a bank, you may use a Co-op kwa Jirani banking agent. Banking at a Co-op Kwa Jirani agent is as good as banking at a Co-op bank branch.
Co-op ATM Cards
Co-op Bank payment cards include Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and Prepaid cards. With any of this, you can withdraw cash at any Visa-branded ATM, or pay for goods & services in a physical outlet or online.
There’s no charge for making payments with your Card. The only amount which is deducted from the card is the cost of the item or service you are paying for.
However, if you withdraw cash using the card, you will be charged a commission up-front, which is immediately deducted from your available card limit.
You don’t need to go and queue at an ATM to withdraw cash when you need to shop or make a payment. You can pay directly in an outlet that has a Point of Sales (POS) machine.
Besides shopping, parents and guardians paying school fees to a Co-op Bank account can do so in various convenient ways, including Paybill services, Co-op Agent, or the Co-op Bank Mobile app.
