Ahmednassir: Kenya’s coronavirus daily briefings ‘nonsense upon stilts’

Coronavirus Briefing in Kenya: Outspoken lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has poured cold water on the efforts the Ministry of Health is making towards stopping the spread of the coronavirus disease. In a series of posts he made on his twitter account, Ahmednassir Abdullahi trashed the daily briefings by the cabinet secretary for health Mutahi Kagwe.

“Despite being NATIONALLY LIONIZED & WIDELY GLORIFIED, CS Kagwe & his team have for 4 weeks fed Kenyans the same menu of ‘today 4 people tested positive’,” said Abdullahi. “Kenyans are not only very skeptical but are of the view that Kagwe and his team are “ALL HAT and NO CATTLE” simply not UPTO job.”

In nearly three months since the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in Kenya, the outspoken lawyer cautioned that Kenyans were losing faith in the Ministry of Health, and specifically Mutahi Kagwe. Mr. Kagwe had won the goodwill of Kenyan when he came on board to replace former CS Sicilly Kariuki.

“It will be very DANGEROUS and even CATASTROPHIC for Kenyans to lose FAITH and TRUST in CS KAGWE and his CHOIR…and I think KENYANS are very close in doing just that…the lullaby they sing during the daily briefings is STALE and MONOTONOUS,” said lawyer Abdullahi. He added that for Kenya to get a clear picture on the state of the virus in the country the government needs to test over 250,000 people. Currently, less than 50,000  tests have been conducted.

“Kenya has to test between 250k to 500k for the Coronavirus to have an idea on where were and where we are going…this daily announcement of “x number of people has tested positive is “nonsense upon stilts'” said Abdullahi on the coronavirus briefing in Kenya.
