Daniel Orwa: Kenyan minting millions from selling coffee in US

The United States of America is one of the top destinations for Kenyans seeking greener pastures, with reports indicating that the country hosts over 160,000 Kenyan-born citizens.

While most of these individuals have landed jobs in various sectors, others have become successful entrepreneurs in the foreign nation.

Daniel Orwa is among the Kenyans making great strides in the USA. Orwa, who moved to the country at just 14 to advance his education, runs a coffee business in Nebraska, which he describes as lucrative.

Initially, the businessman operated a restaurant business but noticed the high demand for coffee, prompting him to launch a pure coffee business.

“I always had a menu in mind that I knew, if executed the right way, would fit in well, especially in small towns where people don’t often get to experience this kind of dining. I worked with really good chefs, so I took a little bit of everything from each one and moulded it into my own style,” he says.

His coffee business dumbed Fenders Coffee, gives a taste of authentic Kenyan coffee to the people of Nebraska.

“As time went on, we realised that the coffee program wasn’t getting enough exposure at the restaurant. So we decided to move it to a different location and focus entirely on coffee.”

So lucrative is the business that Orwa has no plans to come back to Kenya as he wants to keep providing the people of Norfolk with high-end coffee and delicacies with a Kenyan touch.

Navigating through challenges and seizing opportunities along the way, Orwa’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. His success is a testament to resilience, hard work, and unwavering dedication.
