The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) chairman, David Muni Ichoho, has resigned two years after assuming the role.
In a letter to the KTDA Group Company Secretary, Ichoho said his last day at KTDA will be Friday, 14th July 2023. He, however, did not reveal the reason for the exit.
“I hereby tender my resignation as the chairman of KTDA (H) with immediate effect from Friday, 14th July 2023 at 1400hrs,” reads the letter.
Ichoho was appointed KTDA chair in June 2021. His resignation comes soon after the conclusion of the Tea Reforms Conference last week in Kericho.
During the conference, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accused the KTDA management of exploiting small-scale farmers by diverting profits to new projects without involving them.

The DP further hit on some individuals saying he would invite the National Intelligence Service to move in and conduct an audit.
“Farmers are very good people and have sent us details. Somebody has traveled 36 times out of the country on farmers’ money. You must agree to work with us, or you lose everything; otherwise, as a government, we have a way of removing you from office so that we work together,’’ he said.
The DP urged KTDA to carry out reforms that benefit both the tea sector and individual smallholder farmers.
