Multi-million empire Mutua, Lillian built and what he has repossessed

Lillian and Mutua Property

Lillian and Mutua Property: Lillian Ng’ang’a has come out to state that her former lover Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has demanded for every penny he ever gave her. She has also said that Mutua has been repossessing property she owns.

She said that on September 8, 2021, Governor Mutua accompanied by his police bodyguard stormed her apartment in Kileleshwa and took away her personal car and transferred its ownership to another person.

“Without my knowledge or consent and using a spare key which he had illegally obtained, he drove away my personal motor vehicle KBY 186G – a car which had been fully registered in my name since 2014. Mr. Mutua proceeded to fraudulently transfer the ownership of the car in the log book into his name, and thereafter sold the vehicle to a 3rd party,” she said. “Along the same fraudulent conduct. Mr. Mutua recently and illegally transferred my shares in the Ndash Enterpnses LTD (the hotel company) to his sister Ann Mbandi Mutua. Again, a dear act of fraud. At no point did I execute a transfer of my shares or otherwise transfer my 1600 shares (45%) shareholding in the company to him, let alone his sister.”

So what exactly is being contested by the two, who now it turns out were not married but lovers, even though Ms. Ng’ang’a had been playing the role of Machakos County’s First Lady?

Mutua and Ng’ang’a built a multi-million empire in the ten years they were together. Details of their empire first emerged following a highly publicized break up that has taken Kenya’s social media by storm and turned Mutua into the centre of all jokes.

According to a report that appeared in a local daily, Mutua and Lillian Ng’ang’a has wealth ranging from liquid cash to investments in the real estate sector. Prominent among these is the luxurious A&L mega hotel. This hotel is located in the outskirts of Machakos County. This hotel was officially opened last year. The A &L hotel which derives its name from the couple’s initials started operating on 24 July 2020.

Prior becoming Machakos County Governor in 2013, Dr. Mutua said he’d already made millions in the film industry. Speaking to businessmen at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos in 2019, he revealed that his short stint in the film industry was quite lucrative and financed his investment portfolio. “I started my own company at the age of 19 years; where I formed a company then left the country. When I came back I started ‘Cobra Squad’ where the first series earned me Sh. 25 million and the next film earned me Sh. 11 million,” he said. Dr. Mutua said that he invested the money by buying apartments in Nairobi and an aviation company.

Mutua and Lillian also owned a resort at Ngaali village, a sleepy neighbourhood that borders the main entrance to Tsavo East National Park in Kitui County.  They also owned a palatial home on the Kenyan coastline.

According to a report that appeared in the Daily Nation, a company associated with Mutua and his estranged first wife Josephine Thitu operated a vernacular TV station. This TV station collapsed after Ms. Ng’ang’a took over its supervision. “Mutua’s blossoming relationship with Ng’ang’a had a hand in the collapse of Woni TV and the careers of many,” the report said.
