He’s no stranger to showing off. He’s the same guy who flew out some of his lady friends to Europe to celebrate his birthday. Rumor has it that he once flew in Alicia Keys for a private performance.

There was also that time he flew in a globally top ranking designer to take his suit measurements. there is therefore no doubt on Donald B. Kipkorir’s wealth.

Quite enviable huh? All his actions scream the words ‘BIG LEAGUES’ but let’s look at it all from a business angle. Is flaunting your wealth wise? The wealthiest people in the world never show off and there are good reasons for that.

The first reason why flaunting your wealth is unwise is no one will be happy for you, even those close to you. We all love a good rags-to-riches fairy tale, but there’s a story people are far more interested in reading: Riches-to-rags. Everybody loves to see the mighty fall, even if we’re too politically correct to admit it. If you keep declaring your wealth from the mountain tops, you will alienate a lot of people who will wish that you fail. It’s all human nature.

From an economic point of view, flaunting your wealth is bad for business since associates and business partners end up feeling jealous and will be reluctant to give you more business. It also tends to disturb social relationships that you have with friends and coworkers.

Flaunting your wealth on social media doesn’t elicit a reaction of respect. People become consumed with envy and envy is something people at the top don’t need. If you are facing an army of jealous people, one of them will eventually screw you up. None of us is clean. Someone somewhere will always have dirt on you.

  1. Question? What if he does it for the sake of business brand imaging? The legal profession is often about brains and brand. The most successful lawyers out there are the quiet shabby ones. Then there is the “rich” calibre the Rudy Giulianis of this country and they make money by falunting and imploring on media attention. So what if this is his way of attracting the dollar?
