Why You Should Not Flaunt Your Wealth (Lessons From Flamboyant Lawyer Donald B. Kipkorir)

People with real wealth stay under the radar and not just because they are afraid of making others jealous but because they understand why it’s necessary.

While Donald B. Kipkorir’s wealth is not in doubt, the truly wealthy in this country aren’t the ones we see around us driving the expensive cars, or living in the 10,000 square foot homes. Those people are more than likely over-extended and in a hole. The truly wealthy are those that don’t have to flaunt it. They drive cars that have good value, and homes that are under the 10 million shilling range.  They became wealthy by living frugally, saving and investing the income that they have created. In fact, most of them have become wealthy because they are able to live below their means and live less flashy lifestyles.  They’re the ones I hope to emulate as I go on my own journey towards wealth.

Real millionaires don’t mind spending money, but they also know about buying things that give you good value.  They don’t splurge on things they don’t want or need, and instead they save their money, invest, save and give.  They also find greater pleasure in enjoying things that don’t cost money. Spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, and working hard at their chosen profession.

It might be okay to buy a few toys if you have the money but don’t rub it on people’s faces. Enjoy your wealth quietly. It’s you who worked for it. The rest of the world doesn’t have to know. Take a trip abroad to reward yourself or spend on that thing you always dreamed of. But do it for yourself and do it wisely. No need to create a story irrespective of whether Donald B. Kipkorir’s wealth is akin to yours.

  1. Question? What if he does it for the sake of business brand imaging? The legal profession is often about brains and brand. The most successful lawyers out there are the quiet shabby ones. Then there is the “rich” calibre the Rudy Giulianis of this country and they make money by falunting and imploring on media attention. So what if this is his way of attracting the dollar?
