DP William Ruto blocked at JKIA from traveling to Uganda

DP Ruto Blocked at JKIA: Deputy President William Ruto was on Monday blocked by security agents from travelling to Uganda. The DP was blocked at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

He was denied the boarding pass over what was termed as his failure to seek clearance from the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.

“We are surprised the Deputy President was denied clearance to go on a planned private visit to Uganda. It is our officers who always handle his travel and this time, they were told, that he must get clearance from Immigration to fly out. In all his travels, all these years, this has not happened,” the DP’s office said through his communication secretary David Mugonyi.

Reports say that the deputy president was set to travel on a private jet on flight number Jadestar 12. “The plane he was to use; a Cessna 560XL registered using tail number 5Y WHB, had already been prepared for flight but its crew was told at the last minute that their VVIP guest would not be flying after all,” one report said.

Denis Itumbi who is a communication associate of the deputy president said that the requirement was suspect as DP Ruto had never been required to seek clearance since taking office in 2013. He also added that the trip was private and had nothing to do with his official duties.
