DP Ruto’s 2.5 Billion Weston hotel at the verge of demolition

Demolition of buildings lying on riparian land, earmarked by NEMA, has entered the second week. The demolition kicked off on Monday 6, flattening Southend mall, Nakumatt Ukay, Taj Mall with others in line including, Tribe Hotel and Westgate Mall. Many politicians have expressed their dissapointment in this move by the government to reclaim public land. Kiambu Governor, pointed out that demolition of these bildings is not the way out and the government should explore other best option like moving the rivers.
However President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday stated that he would not relent in his quest to conserve the environment and buildings found on road reserves and riparian land would be demolished.
“I have lost many friends. Many have called me asking ‘how can you be watching when all the destruction is going on?’ I say a time has come to fight impunity. Let us lose our friends and do what is right in the eyes of God. Let us create a society that respects and treasures hard work and integrity, a nation with a conscience,” he stated.
The top National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition strategist David Ndii nevertheless challenged President Uhuru to take the bull by its horns. Economist David Ndiii has called for the reclaiming of the land on which DP William Ruto’s Weston Hotel sits on, claiming it sits on public land. He also called on President Uhuru to not only loose the DP as a friend but also turn himself in.
“This is public land. One more friend you need to lose. And once you are done with him, turn yourself in,” stated Ndii in a tweet

He also insinuated the president should lose Ruto as his friend then turn in himself, implying that both Uhuru and the DP were as guilty of impunity as those whose properties were being targeted for demolition.

Uhuru on August 12, insisted the demolition exercise would not spare anyone, regardless of who they were in the society.
“No matter how much money you have, no matter how many people in high offices you know, we will not be prevented from achieving our dreams because of impunity,” he warned.
