Echesa: Return my Sh. 23 million car, using matatus is embarrassing

Echesa Saga: Embattled former cabinet secretary Richard Echesa has pleaded with court to get his multi million vehicle back.

Echesa has told the court that he is facing untold shame and embarrassment from walking around and using matatus. “I have been reduced to using public transport, hence am being subjected to embarrassment and loss of dignity,” he told the court through his lawyer, Bryan Khaemba.

Echesa has filed to have his car, a Range Rover model of registration plate KCR 786H, returned to him. “The respondents’ continued confiscation of the vehicle has subjected me to embarrassment and loss of dignity because I am now forced to use public transport, and even sometimes travel on foot,” says Echesa .

A week ago, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives said that the registration number KCW 298Q of a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 belonging to Echesa is fake.

DCI sleuths attached to the Serious Crimes Unit had raided the former CS’ home in Karen where they took away five cars. These included the V8 KCW 298Q, a Lexus KBY 750U, a Volkswagen KAY 388A, a Mercedes Benz KCL 350J and a pick-up.

Echesa has been accused of forging the registration details of a vehicle belonging to his deceased friend, Mr Patrick Akifuma, who died on March 14, 2016.

DCI detectives are also holding another vehicle belonging to Mr Echesa — a Range Rover.

It was impounded on February 17 when the former CS was arrested over a Sh. 39 billion fake arms deal. Echesa Saga.
