The Ministry of Education has released the 2025 school calendar, which indicates all opening and closing dates for learners in pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools.
In a circular on Thursday, November 28, the Ministry said that all schools will reopen for the first term on January 6, 2025.
The first term is set to run for 13 weeks from January 6, 2025, to April 4. Learners will proceed for a five-day half-time between February 26 and March 2. The first term holiday is set to run until April 25.
Schools will then reopen for the second term on April 28, during which students will study for 14 weeks before proceeding to the second term holidays on August 1, 2025.
Learners will break for their half-term between June 25 and June 29 before taking a three week holiday break from August 4, to August 22.
Kipsang: How placement to senior schools will be done
According to Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, third term will be the shortest with the learners set to study for nine weeks from August 25 to October 24.
Notably, there will be no mid-term in the third term, with national exams set to kick off on October 27.
The first exam will be the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) administered in Grade 6, which will kick off on October 27 and last for four days up to October 30.
Similarly, students undertaking the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) exams are set to begin their test on October 27 till October 31.
The completion of these exams will pave the way for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) scheduled to run for three weeks from November 3 to November 21.
