Equity Bank has been recognized as Africa’s Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility for the second year in a row at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2023.
The lender also received accolades for being the best in digital solutions and small and medium enterprise (SME) banking. Other awards include Best Bank in Kenya, Best Bank in DRC, and Best Bank for CSR in Kenya.
Equity Group CEO James Mwangi attributed the achievement to the lender’s commitment to create innovative solutions to transform lives in Africa.

Through the Equity Group Foundation (EGF), the lender has so far trained over 2 million Women and Youth in financial education, while over 400,000 MSMEs have been trained in entrepreneurship.
The Group, which has banking subsidiaries in Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and DRC, has also hit a first in the education sector, awarding scholarships to over 50,000 learners.
