Eric Omondi announces job opportunities, meeting venue for all jobless graduates

Comedian Eric Omondi has announced job opportunities for jobless graduates in Kenya in a move aimed at easing the unemployment rate in the country.

In a post on his Instagram account on Monday, March 25, Eric called on all unemployed graduates to attend a meeting on Tuesday, March 26, at the Blue Spring Hotel along Thika Road, adding that he had secured several job positions for the attendees.

“If you are a graduate without a job, come to Blue Spring Hotel Thika Road opposite Garden City tomorrow. We are meeting at 8:30 am usichelewe!!! Iko kazi!!! Kazi iko!!! We are going to provide employment and job opportunities to all our brothers and sisters,” he said.

His sentiments come a few days after the comedian launched an initiative called the Kenya Employment Association to reduce the country’s unemployment rate.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Eric said the initiative will provide employment opportunities by connecting employers to employees genuinely and without bias.

“We are going to provide employment by connecting employers to employees. If you are out there and you are not employed, please send your number and name to this number, we are going to put all our energy and creativity to connect the employers to employees because that is the only way we are going to save this nation.

“Kenyans have done their part, they have gone to school, they have studied, they have skill and there are no jobs. The amount of graduates in this nation that are tarmacking year in year out, the percentage of graduates that have been unemployed for more than 10, 20 years,’’ he said.

Eric observed that many parents have spent all their savings to educate their children only for them to end up unemployed or turn to casual jobs.

“The number of engineers, and doctors that are riding bodabodas, the number of lawyers, and nurses who are walking on the streets of Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa unemployed, the amount of graduates in crime in this country.

“People whose parents spent their savings to take them to school have tried with all their sweat, all their energy to secure any form of job and they are unable to get that job,” he added.

According to him, half of the Kenyan population is jobless, making it difficult for most families to make ends meet and live comfortably.

“Nearly half of the Kenyan population is unemployed. Most men are unable to provide for their children and wives. Putting food on the table has become an issue in this country and it is because of the high levels of unemployment,” he said.

He called on employers with an opportunity, regardless of the type, to hire Kenyans to help with the joblessness situation in the country.
