Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have identified the nain suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital finance boss Erick Maigo.
According to the detectives, Erick Maigo’s killer was a teenager below 18 years. The girl is said to be from Kibra. Detectives working on the case have also found bloodstained clothes believed to have been worn by the girl at the time of the murder.
These were the clothes that she was captured on CCTV wearing as she escaped from Maigo’s home through the back door and over the fence.
“The clothes a red checkered shirt and a grey pair of animal-print pants were found in a semi-permanent wooden shack in Bombolulu village, deep inside the sprawling Kibira settlement,” the DCI said.
Detectives added that the girl sat for her KCPE examination at the Dagoretti-approved school between 2021 and 2022.
Maigo was found dead at his home on September 15, 2023 in the morning. He had been stabbed 25 times.
A postmortem examination revealed that the stabbings were on his face, neck and chest. He had no stabbings on his hands, which suggested to detectives that he had not attempted to figut back during the attack.
This raised suspicion on whether he was drugged before the murder. Samples from his body were taken for a toxicological examination to determine if he was drugged.
